Egrets (2019)

for horn, violin, violoncello and piano

 

My hometown, Xiamen, is famously known as the “Egrets Isle.” The presence of egrets form an important part of my impression on the local culture. In this piece, I crystallise egrets’ movements into strands of ebbing and flowing energy, decorated by swirls of wind under their flapping wings, and sudden occurrences of ripples and droplets when they touch down the water.
